Staff ReportIt is no
secret that sectional draws are never kind to the Sagamore Conference. That is
because in most sports, baseball included, six of the teams in the league are
in one sectional. That kind of makes it hard to avoid one another. Obviously
this year that problem takes on added meaning for most of the teams in the
conference because they are all trying to avoid top ranked Crawfordsville.
Well,
Southmont drew the short stick. The Mounties will get first crack at the mighty
Athenians. It will come in the opening game of the Danville Sectional. The
winner will joust with the winner of a contest between Boone County rivals
Lebanon and Western Boone. Danville and North Montgomery drew into the bye
round.
Frankfort
drew Western in the opening round at Northwestern. However, the highly regarded
hosts will likely await the winner of that game. In 2A action, Tri-West will
open against the hosts at the Speedway Sectional.
