ATTICA
– Southmont High School’s boys golf team finally picked up a triangular meet
win.

After failing to win their first two triangular meets, the Mounties
finally captured a three-team victory Monday afternoon – all thanks to senior
Tyler Price’s score.

Southmont won Monday’s triangular meet over
Sagamore Athletic Conference and county-rival North Montgomery by the fifth
player’s – or Price’s – score. Southmont and North Montgomery each shot a 167,
but Price (48) had a lower score than the Chargers’ fifth player, Stefan Rogers
(49). Fountain Central finished third with 183.

“It feels good, good to
sneak a win out of there,” first-year Mounties’ coach Bob Young said. “We kind
of stole it from them.”

Southmont senior Adam Teague and North Montgomery
sophomore Wade Miller each shot 38s and earned co-medalist honors.

Senior
Josiah Binch fired a 42, while senior Andrew Actis had a 43 and freshman Chris
Rash shot a 44 for the Mounties (4-3).

“I’m pleased with Chris Rash, as a
freshman, playing courses he hasn’t ever played or seen before,” Young said.
“I’m pleased with Adam Teague. But we need to keep working. We need to be more
consistent and be more in the 160 area.”

For North Montgomery, junior
Jackson Clifton added a 42, while junior Nathan Harpel had a 42 and junior Cory
Seward added a 46.

North Montgomery plays again at 4:30 p.m. today at
Covington with Turkey Run. Southmont’s next meet is at 4:30 p.m.
