FB: Crawfordsville, North Montgomery Move To Front Of Pack

It is beginning to look like October 10th is going
to be D-Day in the Sagamore Conference. That is the night that Crawfordsville
will travel to North Montgomery. Those two
squads seized early control of the league race Friday night. Still, Danville and Tri-West may
yet have something to say about determining the conference champion.

Here is a look at Friday night’s action.

The big game of the evening was at Tri-West where the
unbeaten Bruins tangled with North Montgomery which
had also yet to taste defeat. The Chargers relentless ground attack and a case
of fumbleitis on the part of Tri-West led to a relatively easy 44-21 win for
the visitors from Montgomery
County
.

Danville
stayed in contention by dumping Southmont 37-21. The victory leaves the
Warriors 2-1 in league play with dates still remaining versus both Tri-West and
North Montgomery. The Mounties drop to 0-2 in
league play.

For the second week in a row, Crawfordsville escaped a close
contest. This time it was a 27-20 win over hard luck Western Boone. The victory
gives the Athenians the outright lead in the conference race at 3-0. However,
they not only still have North Montgomery on
the schedule, they also are yet to play Tri-West.

Lebanon
broke into the win column with a 17-6 victory over Frankfort. Don’t count the Tigers out. Their
murderous pre-conference schedule prepares them well for the rigors of Sagamore
action.
