| SOUTHMONT CROSS COUNTRY: Clauser wins Bloomington Invite

BLOOMINGTON – Southmont High School senior cross country runner Creasy Clauser won Saturday’s Junior/Senior B Girls Division Bloomington Invitational and helped lead the Mounties to the team title.
Southmont finished with 19 points, beating Indian Creek by just one. Clauser won the race in 19:13. Dusty Lawton (24:39) finished ninth.
Sophomore Kylie Lippencott finished fourth (21:46) in the freshmen/sophomore division. The Mounties placed fifth as a team in that division.
“The team was very upbeat (Saturday),” Mounties’ coach Cassandra Hicks said. “Even before the race, they were upbeat and ready to run. We talked about staying positive and having a good mental attitude and how that would affect (their) overall performance.”
In the boys meet, freshman Bodin Howell finished seventh (18:56) in the B freshmen/sophomore division, while junior Ethan Miller placed eighth (18:32) in the junior/senior division.
Southmont finished fifth in the junior/senior division with 47 points.
Southmont next competes at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Twin Lakes with Fountain Central.
